1. Academic Positions at the ranks of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor

The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) is seeking to fill academic positions at the ranks of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor in the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Business Statistics
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Operations and Supply Chain Management

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or DBA. Those applying for Assistant Professorships who have a recent doctorate should show a strong research potential. Applicants for Associate and Full Professorships should have a record of commensurate research achievement. Successful candidates will be expected to conduct research at the forefront of their field and to teach at the undergraduate, the MBA and the Executive MBA levels.

Qualified candidates should submit a letter of application, a current CV, sample copies of publications and three letters of recommendation.

Applications should be received  by December 15,2008   for appointment for the Spring of 2009 and by February 15, 2009 for appointment for the Fall of the 2009-2010 academic year. However, search will continue until all vacancies are filled.


2. Endowed Chair Positions at the Suliman Olayan School of Business, the American University of Beirut

The Suliman Olayan School of Business at the American University of Beirut is seeking candidates for the following Endowed Chair positions:

·         The Husni A. Sawwaf Chair in Business (any discipline)

·         The Abdul Aziz Al-Sagar Chair in Finance

·         The Coca-Cola Chair in Marketing.

A candidate must have international academic renown in his/her field. Typically, such a candidate will be a highly accomplished and recognized researcher in his/her field, and a thought leader, with a proven track record in teaching, and professional service as well.

Chair Professors will be expected to spearhead a strong research program, mentor junior faculty members, and engage in teaching on one or more of the BBA, MBA, EMBA programs , as well as optionally contributing to executive education.

3. Marie Currie Research Fellow- Post Doc Research Fellow

The candidate will join an international research consortium composed of American University of Beirut (AUB), Brunel Business School at Brunel University (UK), and TurkSat (Turkey) funded by EU Framework 7. The candidate will be placed at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) at AUB. OSB is an AACSB accredited business school for its regional eminence and global excellence, http://sb.aub.edu.lb/.

The candidate is expected to have a PhD, those who have a recent doctorate should show a strong research potential and a research interest at the interface of multi-disciplines: Electronic Government Information Systems, Performance management & measurement, data analysis and associated software tools. In particular, some experience in data envelopment analysis (DEA) & network DEA; analytic hierarchy process (AHP) & network AHP; questionnaire & web surveying methods, structured equation models; process model analysis would be appreciated. An enthusiasm for collecting field data on E-Government systems is very important. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate activities amongst the consortium partners. Strong communication and inter-personal skills are highly desirable.

4. Information System Instructor

The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business of the American University of Beirut seeks a well-qualified information-systems instructor, with a Master degree and, preferably, some knowledge of business applications software. In addition to participating in the teaching of information systems courses on the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program, the successful candidate will be expected to play the role of a business applications software officer. This entails maintaining all business applications software in use at the School, developing ‘local-expert’ skills and instructing faculty and students in their use, and providing input to the process of procuring further applications software. Training opportunities will be made available.

The deadline for applications is 15 July, but search will continue until the post is filled. The successful candidate is expected to start as soon after appointment as possible.
